Christina Alexander

My name is Christina Alexander, and I have a thing for a guy named Gavin.

I was a corporate girl for a while and was very good at my job. I was something like an administrative assistant-turned project manager. But when I became obsessed with writing, I decided to save up some money, pay off my condominium and leave my job. Most people thought it was stupid, but the pull was too strong for me not to do it. Who was it, Wiz Khalifa who said, “YOLO”? Yeah, it was that. I just felt that I was wasting my time in that environment when I was much more interested in creating environments in my head.

So, I had this master plan. To keep from touching my savings, I’d just find a lower level contract assignment that would help pay the bills and still leave me with some spending money. I specifically went in search of the easy stuff and lucked up on a receptionist position with a firm that I really ended up liking.

Answering phones, looking pretty, and greeting people who walked into the beautiful building wouldn’t be so hard. Easy breezy; and in between time when the phones weren’t ringing, Microsoft Word was wide open on my screen so that I could pen away at my debut novel.

And then one day . . . he happened.

Gavin Brooks. Tall, blonde, nice body, beautiful eyes, and a working man. He strolled up to the front desk one morning while filling in for his co-worker. I signed for the package in his hands, but silently wondered about the package in his pants. But then the office vulture, Sharon was also there and made no secret that she liked what she saw. I left her to it because I don’t compete for men. Besides, white boys had never really been my thing. Sure, they came onto me all the time, it was just that those interactions never really manifested into anything.

But all that changed with Gavin. Despite Sharon’s attempts at getting his attention, somehow he still found his way back into my space. While I was checking him out, apparently, he was doing the same thing and before the day was out, he was calling me to ask me out on a date. There was no way that I was going to turn that invitation down, and before long one thing led to another. Let’s just say, I absolutely couldn’t get enough.

However, just as I was all in with my heart, and was craving this man and loving the place we were in, I got the shock of my life—in the form of a wife! I was devastated and ended things immediately. But when Gavin came to me with his version of the truth, the game changed . . . a lot.
